Redesigned by Breaking the Rules

As a UX/UI Product Designer, I’m often tasked with more than just aesthetics. Sometimes, it’s about challenging fundamental beliefs and fostering growth through design. The redesign of Larger.World’s (SaaS Unlearning) platform was one such project, and it transformed not just the platform but also my perspective.

The Initial Challenge: Navigating the Unknown

When I first embarked on the Larger.World redesign, I must admit, I was a bit lost. The concept of “unlearning” was new to me, and I felt a sense of apprehension about delivering the desired quality. But I decided to dedicate 15 days to thorough research and study, and slowly, clarity emerged.

A Clear Compass: Defining Objectives

Larger.World’s core objectives became my compass throughout the project. They wanted to enhance user engagement, brand identity, and platform usability while cultivating a growth mindset. These goals, along with their Unique Selling Point (USP) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), steered my decision-making and laid the foundation for my business design thinking approach.

Simplifying for Impact

The existing Larger.World website lacked clear navigation, a strong brand identity, and engaging content. The aim was to create a cohesive visual experience that promoted the platform’s mission.

The Solution: Step-by-Step

Here’s how I tackled the challenge, point by point:

  • Simplified Navigation: I implemented a fixed menu to simplify navigation and reinforce the brand. Icons replaced text for clearer use, and active login speeds up access significantly.
  • Brand Identity: Rounded button shapes inspired by the logo were integrated throughout the site.
  • User Engagement: A social proof section and new content formats (videos, audio, articles) were added.
  • Membership Section: I restructured pricing using psychological principles, showing the highest price first to encourage upsells.
  • Visual Storytelling: A key visual illustration depicted the essence of “unlearning” as a transformative journey. The imagery conveyed: “You uncover, go ‘back,’ and evolve.”

The Impact

The redesign yielded several key improvements:

  • Consistent design elements reinforce Larger.World’s brand, building trust and recognition that attract potential clients. A strong brand translates to increased lead generation and business opportunities.
  • Dynamic content and social proof foster community, creating a sticky and compelling experience. Higher engagement drives user retention and word-of-mouth referrals, significantly boosting lead acquisition.
  • Simplified content, movement and accessibility for users ensure a seamless exploration of the platform’s offerings. This streamlined experience reduces friction, encourages conversions, and directly supports lead generation efforts.

Challenging My Beliefs: ‘Unlearning’ as a Design Philosophy

This project challenged my beliefs about how design can drive change. “Unlearning” isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a way to unlock new potential. By embracing this concept, I created a platform that encourages users to question assumptions, explore new perspectives, and grow.

Personal Growth: A Learning Experience

This project taught me the importance of thorough research, a clear vision, and a willingness to challenge outdated beliefs.
